31 Days Of Basic Beauty

Day 8 - Basic Manicure

There is something special about pampering your digits. Nice moisturised hands and cared for nails make me feel a lot neater. Here is a simple manicure in a step-by-step process to get your own perfect and polished hands.

What you will need:

  • Nail polish remover and cotton pads
  • Nail clippers (if your nails need a trim before you file them)
  • Emery board and buffer
  • Cuticle pusher and cuticle trimmer
  • Moisturiser
  • Cuticle oil
  •  2 in 1 base and top coat
  • Nail polish

Remove Nail polish with a non-acetone remover using a cotton pad
Trim and shape nails in your favourite nail shape. Avoid coarse emery boards to prevent splitting. Opt for a fine emery board or a crystal one.
Using  Warm water, soak your nails for about 3 minutes. Soaking is essential to making cuticle removal easier.

Apply a cuticle nourishing oil and massage it in for a minute.
Buff your nails using a brisk bask and forth motion to ensure an even surface. Don't buff too much though or the nail can be too smooth and the nail polish wont adhere to your nails and will slip off

Gently push the cuticle away from the nail using a pushing tool. Don't push too far as it may damage the nail or cause the skin to tear.

Very gently slide the cuticle trimmer over the pushed back cuticle. This will remove the excess skin and make your nails look generally neater. If done correctly this should be a painless procedure. Its better to under-do this step than over do it because the cuticle protects the nail from bacteria so don't be too rough.

Wipe off any remaining cuticle oil.
Moisturise your hands with a rich hand cream, your skin will love it!
Now apply a Base coat onto your nails. A base coat prevents nails from staining and chipping.

Apply your favourite nail polish in layers. I chose a glitter as the new year has just come in, this affect took about two coats.
Finish off with a top coat to add shine.

Give your hands another good moisturisin'.

This manicure took me about twenty minutes so its really quick and I tried to make it as simple as I could.

Because your Beautiful

Have Fun!
